In her second race of the season, Olympic champion Winfred Yavi delivered a stellar performance, securing first place in the Memorial Elisa Migliori Cross Country race held in Alla di Sarde, Italy (6 km race) with a time of 20:37 minutes. She finished ahead of Burundi's Francine Niyomkonzi (21:40 minutes) and Great Britain's Emily Colling (22:21 minutes).
Yavi, the 2024 Paris Olympic gold medalist in the 3000m steeplechase and a long-distance runner, demonstrated her readiness to compete strongly in various championships this season, most notably the Asian Games to be held in Nagoya, Japan, next September.
