Balew achieves second place and breaks the Asian record in the 5000 meter race. Bahraini runner Birhanu Balew continued his brilliance on the international scene after he achieved second place in the 5000 meter race in one of the rounds of the IAAF Diamond League, recording a time of 12:47.73 minutes, thus breaking the previous Asian record and adding a new achievement to the Bahraini athletics record. Balew came in second place with a very small margin of only 0.11 seconds behind the Ethiopian winner. Adiso Yehuni, who recorded 12:47.62 minutes, in a race characterized by excitement and high speed until the last metres. This achievement is a confirmation of the distinguished level that Balew presents in long-distance races, as he succeeded in setting a new Asian record and raising the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain high in one of the strongest global competitions, amid the participation of an elite group of the most prominent international runners.
