4th GCC Games - Doha
12 May, 2026 - 22 May, 2026
The Bahrain national athletics team delivered a historic and dominant performance at the 4th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Games in Doha, officially concluding their powerhouse track and field campaign at the Qatar Sports Club Stadium with a phenomenal total of 23 medals, including 12 gold, 8 silver, and 3 bronze medals. This spectacular harvest meant the track and field stars bagged the highest number of accolades for the entire delegation, officially securing the second place overall for the Kingdom of Bahrain in the athletics tournament standings behind host nation Qatar. This monumental achievement was driven by a series of sensational individual victories and double-podium finishes across multiple disciplines. In the shorter distances, Bahraini sprinters captured a gold-and-silver sweep in the women's 200m event alongside a bronze medal finish in the men's 200m sprint. The middle and long-distance disciplines saw unprecedented authority as the team executed massive one-two sweeps, highlighted by gold and silver finishes in both the women's 1500m and the men's 5000m, complemented by an individual gold medal in the women's 3000m steeplechase. On the field, technical excellence shone through as the squad captured a gold medal in the women's shot put alongside a fighting bronze medal in the men's field events. Capping off this elite showing, the relays were thoroughly commanded by the Kingdom, including dominant gold medal victories in both the mixed 4x400m relay and the women's 4x400m relay, solidifying Bahrain's status as a regional track and field powerhouse.
