6th Islamic Solidarity Games

Our national athletics team delivered an exceptional performance on the international stage at the recent 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Representing our country with immense pride and determination, a team of fifteen athletes competed across various track and field events, including the 100m, 200m, 5000m, and 3000m steeplechase. Despite the strong competition from several participating nations, our athletes showcased extraordinary talent, resilience, and teamwork — ultimately securing first place overall in the championship.



The team returned home with an impressive total of 16 medals, consisting of 9 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze — a remarkable achievement that stands as one of the best performances in our nation’s athletics history. This victory not only reflects the athletes' dedication and intensive training but also highlights the growing success of athletics development programs in our country. Their inspiring performance has set a new benchmark for future athletes and has brought immense pride to our nation.

Records Set

New Olympic Record

In a time of 8:52.76, Winfred Yavi secured gold in the Women's 3000m Steeplechase final on August 6, 2024, setting a new Olympic record.

Time Record

With a time of 48.53 seconds, Salwa Eid Naser earned a silver in the Women’s 400m. This remarkable performance stands out as one of the fastest 400m times recorded globally that year and marks a significant sprint for Bahrain in an Olympic final.

Ranking

Bahrain ranked 33rd overall on the Olympic medal table and was the Top Arab Nation at Paris 2024 thanks to these performances combined with medals in other sports.
